Portions of the trail are still under construction, especially toward the east end. There are currently almost 150 miles of completed trail, when finished (in just a couple of years) it will stretch almost 165 miles from the Mississippi River (Grand Rapids) to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (Ely). Ideal for biking, walking, hiking and running. The Mesabi Trail is a 10 ft wide, paved (asphalt) bicycle trail.
